If you are starting out in Software Testing, you might want to attend a Conference or two to expose you to a variety of themes and perspectives. Once you find your niche, you may find that generic conferences just don't cut it any more. Enter LAWST-style workshops.
The Los Altos Workshop on Software Testing (LAWST) is a moderated meeting with a specific theme where a limited number of senior practitioners get together to share and discuss their experiences and knowledge. Since the first LAWST workshop, there have been many spinoffs (see below). I highly recommend these workshops if you have expertise to share. Call for Participation (CFP) invitations are usually posted to the various Software Testing and QA forums - keep your eyes open!

There are many, many conferences out there. I've done my best to list as many as I know here that are: (1) relevant to Software Testers, (2) are not just Academic gatherings, and (3) occur annually (no one-offs).
